Our first site to visit in Rome were the Spanish stairs. And boy were there lots of tourists...

If there's one thing in Rome you never run out of, it's churches. This one was very beautiful, but it's not even labeled...

Trevi fountain
One of the most famous sights in Rome - the Trevi fountain.

It was built in the 18th century by Nicola Salvi, although he didn't finish it anymore..

Monument Vittorio Emanuelle II
The monument "Vittoria Emanuelle II" is visible from many parts of Rome. It's dedicated to the first king of unified Italy.

One of the oldest buildings in Rome - built in the year 125 AD.

Inside, there's a really impressive dome. And the column to the right... you can find those all over Rome.

"Piazza" means place, or square. Here is the fountain of the four streams, the "Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi" by Bernini.

And another fountain on this square. The shape of the square corresponds to the stadium which stood here in Roman times.

And at the end of our walk we ended up at the Law Courts, from where....

... you could glimpse the Vatican.

A whole day was dedicated to the remains of the Romans. Here is the first glimpse of the famous Colosseum.

But before going to the Colosseum, we paid a visit to the thermal bath of Emperor Trajan. They were built on top of Nero's house, which you could still see underground. Very interesting!

Standing before the Colosseum, we looks towards the temples of Venus and Roma.

And the triumphal arch of Konstantin, erected 315 AD, remember Konstantin's victory over a rival.

After queuing up for quite a while we finally entered the Colosseum. Here's the interior.

And the rows going up. The actual seats were on top of the sloping walls which are mostly gone.

The view towards the modern part of Rome. The old ruins are like a park in the middle of the city.

Here's the inner part of the Colosseum. This was covered in Roman times, and what is visible today are the aisles for the gladiators and animals.
